ASSIGNMENT 5

Given the chance to have your own techno business, discuss it's nature and target clients (3000 words).

In accordance to the common idea of our group, we come up on a custumizing
type of personal accessories and things with regards to the sports aspects.

It is a type of business that I should say a "manok", because ive already seen
such business in stores like in apparels and shoes.

But what makes us unique to others is that, we custumize the sports gear, like
rackets and shoes, t-shirts for events, colorful bats, personalize caps, unique
headgears and many more. As long as it regards to the athletic apparels and
accessories.

The group agreed that we should or we could start the prospective business with
just a laptop and a couple of printer plus, a bunch of imagination, and participation.
Also, we have our technique in case of difficulties, we would take other transac-
tions as outsourcing. We could just find other businesses to aid our needs and
will take just interests for the customer we offered to them.

Last discussion with this topic, we've witness different business proposals and plan.
Most commonly it was called as "manok", a synonym for copied. Three of the
them was fall to custumizing and printing like our proposal too, some web developing,
advertising and online shopping. But what makes us tangle up, is the last group
presenting the "CREDIT LINKER" , wherein they are serve as the middleman for
the persons or clients who needs credit cards to buy items online. They state that
their proposed business dont need a higher capital for starting. Plus, it is said to be
an easy one, because its just a method of borrowing things and just paid interest
for it.

The idea was good, it was unique, some comment says, "dile xa manok, sisiw xa!".
Because he states that the business can easily be copied and shared, because all you
have to need for it,is just credit cards and credits inside of it!

ASSIGNMENT 4

What are the lessons that you learned after reading the commencement address of Steve Jobs? (at least 1000words)

Steve Jobs commencement address really is a heartbreaking, and breathtaking speech of his Life.

He actually shared 3 stories of his Life...

*connecting the dots
*his loss and love
*death

Connecting the Dots

It is about of steves interpretation on destiny. He said that, following your hearth will lead you to make great choices
and decisions. He allow the his surroundings to merge in his Life, taking all the twists and consequences he may experience at that time.

What strikes me most is that, his level of determination in fullfilling her dreams and ambitions. That every trials he
suffer made him a strong man, and that it puts every reason behind all of these. His not that intellectual man like Socrates and Pilates and even Da Vinci and Galileo Galilei, but they shared one common characteristic, the "blazing fire" of Determination.

He titled the first part of his story as Connecting The Dots, for it is actually a sort of tracing of what he have done and all that affects in his life. Connecting all the events and emphasizing of what achievement he got by that experience and drawing the line to connect all the dots while Looking Forward of what he is in present.

his loss and love

During the time that Steve holds the trinity of success, he ables to make things possible and meaningful. He adds color of every grayscale of Computer History and put his name all over at the top of industry. He once called his employees as pirates as a sign of determination and even implement overtimes in work even at the most "free call" day. But, Steve Jobs Story, is like fairytale, he lose, and suffer. He loss the company he build, loss the workers he love, loss the family he admire and even neglected by the friends he treasures. He even loss the Love he kept for almost the rest of his life and the balance of his habittat to deal with.

But then, the Actor never stops exploring, he stood up from his failure and treat that as a lesson for him. By his love and fashion of Computers, he was able to start a small company like NeXt and another company named Pixar. And later, he was able to came back to the Apple Company which he build. Like a typical story,..

It ends in "Happy Ending"....

Death

One of Steves most critical experience in his life, was the unwanted serious illness that almost stops and cuts his life to end. It affects both, his Physical and Mental attitude and characteristic of his chapter. “If you live each day as if it your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right”. In time of death every man are all equal. All external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure just fall away in the face of death. Steve Jobs was diagnosed with cancer a pancreatic cancer. There are times, that he tend to stop the race, and leave it to the others for him to rest. But, even this one, the hardest part, he beat it. He becomes an optimistic viewer to all things, to trust and to be contentend of what he've got. He actually conquer and control his emotions on showing his true condition to his family and friends. And was able to Live the 2nd chance borrowed time of his life

And so, Love, Determination, and Free Will...

These are the three major things ive learned on Steve Jobs Comencement Address.
It really affects the way of my learnings and how to apply it properly...

With God's Grace and Guide... it's just an inch a way to us...
.

ASSIGNMENT 3

My Purpose in Life

Wayback when Ive already learned what is wrong and right....
My only purpose in Life is to seek, find, and embrace "HAPPINESS"....
But then I was wrong, definitely wrong...

My mindset at first, is just:

*go to school
*earn high grades
*graduate
*abroad (to get capital)
*help my family (parents)
*settle a business

But its just tooooooo short and fixed plan for me...
I want to be open minded in myself and mysoul...
I want to be a explorer of new things and phenomenons...
But even that, nor more, is the answer for me...

They say, that you will seek your destiny, in order to know, your real purpose..
yet, Even if they found it already, still they are confused, on how did they got
that far.... or how did there plan Works?...
I say, GOD already settle things for them, and For US....

Ive figured out that, GOD itself is TOO MUCH already for me!..
He is the Happiness, Love, and the gives me the real purpose of this borrowed Life...
That is:

*to Serve and obey Him..
*to know Him..
*to share and spreads his WORDS..
*to Love Him..
*and everything for Him..

Even though this purpose might be DIFFICULT on my part...
I know, God will Guide and lighten my way, for me to see clearer the PURPOSE he given 2me!

Because He is my answer, even when I'm just planning my questions...

ASSIGNMENT 2

Personal Traits

Reflection:
I was shock literally, wen we take last week the PT Test.
Coz, i really expect for a typical prelim exam. But, instead,
its a test wherein it measures the level of our entrepreneurial
skill with respect to technopreneurship. It contents, on how
we approach situations in business dat reflects us most. Ive
realize dat, to deal with business, you must have the
manners of adaptability, in order to balance, both emotional
and enterpersonal. Emotional is to control your feelings
infront of ur co-workers, employees, customers, and even
in your own company. Enterpersonal in the sence dat, to
perform well and communicate well to ur clients or customer
in your business transactions.

[left]*How do this test affects me?
*Do I have to apply this in real life?
*Who am I as an entrepreneur 5 yrs. or 10 yrs. from now?

scratch scratch scratch

Now, since the Personal Traits focuses more
on individuals personality in regards with enterpreneurship
(technopreneurship). I have sited some facts that
entreprenuer (technopreneur) should have in order to
achieve goals respectively.

The 9 Personality Types of Entrepreneurs

1. The Improver: If you operate your business predominately in the improver mode, you are focused on using your company as a means to improve the world. Your overarching motto is: morally correct companies will be rewarded working on a noble cause. Improvers have an unwavering ability to run their business with high integrity and ethics.

Entrepreneur example: Anita Roddick, Founder of The Body Shop.

2. The Advisor: This business personality type will provide an extremely high level of assistance and advice to customers. The advisor's motto is: the customer is right and we must do everything to please them. Companies built by advisors become customer focused.

Personality Alert: Advisors can become totally focused on the needs of their business and customers that they may ignore their own needs and ultimately burn out.

Entrepreneur example: John W. Nordstrom, Founder Nordstrom.

3. The Superstar: Here the business is centered around the charisma and high energy of the Superstar CEO. This personality often will cause you to build your business around your own personal brand.

Personality Alert: Can be too competitive and workaholics.

4. The Artist: This business personality is the reserved but highly creative type. Often found in businesses demanding creativity such as web design and ad agencies. As an artist type you’ll tend to build your business around the unique talents and creativities you have.

Personality Alert: You may be overly sensitive to your customer’s responses even if the feedback is constructive. Let go the negative self-image.

Entrepreneur example: Scott Adams, Creator of Dilbert.

5. The Visionary: A business built by a Visionary will often be based on the future vision and thoughts of the founder. You will have a high degree of curiosity to understand the world around you and will set-up plans to avoid the landmines.

Personality Alert: Visionaries can be too focused on the dream with little focus on reality. Action must proceed vision.

Entrepreneurial example: Bill Gates, Founder of MicroSoft Inc.

6. The Analyst: If you run a business as an Analyst, your company is focus on fixing problems in a systematic way. Often the basis for science, engineering or computer firms, Analyst companies excel at problem solving.

Personality Alert: Be aware of analysis paralysis. Work on trusting others.

Entrepreneurial example: Intel Founder, Gordon Moore.

7. The Fireball: A business owned and operated by a Fireball is full of life, energy and optimism. Your company is life-energizing and makes customers feel the company has a get it done attitude in a fun playful manner.

Each business personality type can succeed in the business environment if you stay true to your character. Knowing firmly what your strong traits are can act as a compass for your small business. If you are building a team, this insight is invaluable. For the solo business owners, understand that you may need outside help to balance your business personality.

Reflection:
So, this facts ive presented, will able us on where to put ourselves
in, know what type of technopreneur we could be and establish
a set of guidelines on adjusting in business aspects.

It stated, that we can put up a business either exploring new
environment or to steak to owns fashion and stay true to your
character. Like, pursuing on a business that you gradually loves and
firm to do. But, for solo business owners type, typically it really
needs outside help to balance your business personality.

One that strike me most on above traits is the HERO.
Wherein it collaborates on finding opportunities in the middle of crisis,
difficulties and trials. I always want to inherit that type of trait, I always
aim of finding my self as a Hero and face risks at any Cost.

Healer + Hero + Fireball + Analyst + Visionalry + Analyst +
Superstar + Adviser + Improver equals GOOD Technopreneur
and will Lead to SUCCESS!

Now, Ive also presented the reverse side in Personal Traits.
For us to be aware, and for instance to avoid such trait.
Here it is:

10 less-than-great personality traits of entrepreneurs

While the most important trait of an entrepreneur must be his or her flexibility and adaptability, it’s also true that people who found start-ups often have some less-than-stellar qualities that help them be successful in their ventures.

Here’s a look at 10 qualities that some entrepreneurs share that may help them be great at starting a company, but not so great at existing in normal society. The quotes below are all taken from Jessica Livingston’s book, Founders at Work.

Entrepreneurs are…

1. Paranoid - “Distrust of others, sometimes reaching delusional proportions.” Sometimes founders have a good reason to be paranoid; other times, they are worried for nothing. But most founders are a little jumpy.

“[We were afraid] they would copy us, or what if they just shared this idea with Netscape? Or shared it with anyone else. You have to realize that in those days we had nothing - just the idea…There was not much to protect in terms of IP. Whoever built it first would win the market. So we were afraid and that’s why we kept that as the secret.” - Sabeer Bhatia, cofounder, Hotmail

“We worried about competitors, but it was an unreasonable fear. As a friend once pointed out, most gunshot wounds are self-inflicted.” - Philip Greenspun, cofounder, ArsDigita

2. Self-promoting - Since many founders are working alone or with small teams, they have to be their own biggest fans.

“After I sent out that first email, I went rollerblading around a big office park where Tellme was based. I went up to a random guy and said, “Hey man, have you checked out hotornot.com yet?” He said, “No, what’s that?” I said, “Dude, just go check it out!” Then I went home and watched our logs for Tellme and saw a hit come in 10 minutes later, and then more hits kept coming from different people within Tellme.” - James Hong, cofounder, HOT or NOT

3. Delusional - “Having an unshakable belief in something untrue.”

“I just remember the general feeling that there was very little to risk…Of course, all that is false; there’s a lot of risk and you are never fully equipped.” - Ann Winblad, cofounder, Open Systems

4. Insomniacs - Most founders will admit to a general lack of sleep and an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion at various stages of their company’s inception.

“We were just working around the clock, literally. What I would typically do is not sleep for 2 nights, then I would get 4 hours of sleep and go back to work for another 2 days in a row, and then get 4 hours, and so on. It was the hardest I’ve ever worked in my life. Sometimes I’d take 10-minute cat naps by just laying my head down on my shoulders - just so I’d get some REMs. As soon as the dreams would come, it resets your brain a little bit and you’re able to work again. We were sleeping at our desks.” - Steve Perlman, cofounder, WebTV

“As I was getting interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, or some big pub guy, all I remember was that he went off to the bathroom for a second, and they brought out my omelet. The next thing I remember, I woke up, and I was on the side of my own omelet, and there was no one at Buck’s. Everyone was gone. They just let me sleep.” - Max Levchin, cofounder, PayPal

5. Filled with visions of grandeur - Nearly all start-up founders think that they are going to have a huge impact, that they are going to change the world. Otherwise, why would they go through this hell?

“What held people together was the belief that you’re really going to change the world. I think that’s the nature of many startups. You believe that what you are doing is going to have a dramatic impact. You might not exactly know how, but you really have a belief. That keeps you going and going through many changes and a lot of uncertainty.” - Ray Ozzie, founder, Groove Networks

6. Stubborn - “The quality of being inflexible.” When you found a company, not everyone is going to agree with you along the way. Not only do you have to be too stubborn to go along with them, but you also have to be too stubborn to quit.

“I think one of the things that kills great things so often is compromise - letting people talk you out of what your gut is telling you. Not that I don’t value people’s input, but you have to have the strength to ignore it sometimes, too. If you feel really strongly, there might be something to that, and if you see something that other people don’t see, it could be because it’s that powerful and different. If everyone agrees, it’s probably because you’re not doing anything original.” - Evan Williams, cofounder, Blogger.com

7. Tall-tale tellers - Most founders wouldn’t call themselves liars, but most have, well, stretched the truth from time to time to make their companies seem more established.

“If anybody ever did want to come and visit us, we pulled all kinds of tricks to make ourselves seem more legit. When that first giant company wanted to buy us and sent people over to check us out, all we had in our so-called office was one computer…So we borrowed a few more computers and stuck them on desks, so it would look like there was more going on.” - Paul Graham, cofounder, Viaweb

“I met with 43 VCs…I remember saying to them, “Look, in 4 years, we’ll be doing $18 million in revenue with $4.5 million of profit. After that, the sky’s the limit I’m an ex-venture guy; I’m telling you the truth. We can get to $18 million in year 4, and 30 times $4 million is a $120 million valuation for the company at that time.” They all told me $18 million wasn’t interesting. And I’d say, “But most people will tell you $50 million, and you know they’re lying. I’m already discounting it because I’m a venture guy just like you are.” And they’d say, “Yeah, but $18 million just isn’t interesting.” So I changed my spreadsheet to say $50 million. And they said, “OK, that’s pretty interesting.” - James Currier, founder, Tickle

8. Obsessive - “Excessive in degree or nature; fixated.” This is the personality trait that leads entrepreneurs to spend hours and hours and hours and hours on the contemplation of one tiny problem. This is also the quality that can lead to incredible products.

“You have to be very diligent. You have to check every little detail. You have to be so careful that you haven’t left something out. You have to think harder and deeper than you normally would…It has all these kinds of things and not one bug ever found. Not one bug in the hardware, not one bug in the software. And you just can’t find a product like that nowadays. But, you see, I had it so intense in my head, and the reason for that was largely because it was part of me. Everything in there had to be so important to me. This computer was me.” - Steve Wozniak, cofounder, Apple Computer

9. Dirty - “Filthy.” This is often a result of sleeplessness, obsessiveness and stubbornness.

“My admin…tells stories about coming in in the morning and trying to clean up. She’d pick up a folded pizza box and get scared because she’d find a guy sleeping underneath it - it was covering his face. It was really bad. My dog, when my wife would bring him over, he would find burritos, because the place was just a pigsty.” - Steve Perlman, cofounder, WebTV

10. Moody - “Given to frequent changes in mood, sulky, temperamental.” I define this as the day-to-day changing of emotions and state of mind, often based on absolutely nothing.

“You wake up one morning and you feel great about the day, and you think, “We’re kicking ass.” And then you wake up the next morning, and you think “We’re dead.” And literally nothing’s changed…It’s completely irrational, but it’s exactly what you go through.” - Joe Kraus, cofounder, Excite

Reflection:
This traits truly STRIKES our personalities, both,
physical and emotional.

Being lazy, dumb, and self centered will truly crashes your
perspective in business life. The trait that reflects me most,
is being Lazy, I honestly admit this kind of trait of mine.
I am truly a LAZY man in nature. I always thinl of, "its so easy,
take my time". Because of this, Id rather do things that pleasures
me rather than solving problems or accomplishing projects or
assignments on my own.

But Im trying to destroy and vanish that kind of manners. Now,
im setting my own plans in school, that enables me to remind
always in my aims and goals in life, which I can apply in
Technopreneurship someday.

  • How do this test affects me?

  • Do I have to apply this in real life?

  • Who am I as an entrepreneur 5 yrs. or 10 yrs. from now?

scratch scratch scratch scratch scratch scratch

How do this test affects me?

The test reflects my personal responds, regarding to business
situations. It gives us opportunity on how should we proper to
handle business problems. It serves as guidelines to achieve
our mindset in life. To, know our weakness in technopreneurship
and improve it by the learnings on the subject.

By the Personal Traits Test, I am able to be aware on my
interpersonal skill, on how am I reacts on each situations. It, was
stated that EQ truly is needed in business transactions, It does'nt
mean that one thats intellectual pursue more and average persons
goes down. It's like in the movie "Silicon Valley", Bill Gates adhere
the trait of a good Entrepreneur and ables to outcomes Steve Jobs
in there career. Its like in true life, ones that balance most, truly
are the genius one.

Do I have to apply this in real life?

Defintely YES! To be able for me to achieve my aims and goals in
Life. I am setting now the best mindset an individual must apply.
It was given by our intelligent yet humble facilatator in this subject
matter. I am one of those aiming to be a EMPLOYEE someday,
and makes the DAVAO region to be an IT HUB in the Country.
I will crash down the Brain Drain illness of our beloved country,
and contribute for the better progress in our beloved Philippines.

For me to do that, its truly a Hard task, and one big step for it,
is to Graduate in our University, Even 3 or 4 years more in
Schooling, as long as I am Accountable for each of my actions.

I must fill the expectations of my Family in my career, and to pay
them back for goodness of their sacrifices for me. And because of
this, "Failure Is not An Option" for me..

Who am I as an entrepreneur 5 yrs. or 10 yrs. from now?

I am seeing my self 5 years from now, as a Succesful Businessman.
My goals and dreams obliged me to achieve this aims. My plans
will guid me for it, and GOD grace will be my fuel on pursuing all of this.

Ofcourse, like a normal Person wishes too in life. I also want to have a
perfect and nice family with a stable standing in the community. Having
enough assets on supporting and give better life on my family and to
be a Responsible father someday.

With GOD's present, this is an inch away in mylife

ASSIGNMENT 1

1. What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur?

Personal Analization:

To wrap up the point, Steve have the following to his success:

*Fashion to work.
*Love.
*Perseverance.
*Knowledge.
*Uniqueness.
*Leadership.

But, this things make him fails in business:

*Bostful.
*Hard Headed.
*Selfish.

Which leads to his failure.

====================================================================================================

2. How do you see yourself as a technopreneur?

I'm maybe bad in business manners, for I consider myself as "easy-money-spender"...

But I can improve my interpersonal communicating skills, for its the other way of making business.
Im may not speak fluently, but a little pollish will do for me.

And so, I see myself as a SEED in technopreneur. Needs assistance, fertilizer, sort of light and water and enough knowledge to bear fruit. I really want to learn more in business, like how to handle your own money properly, spend it wisely and know the true essence of money. We may not that wealthy enough, but in small cases like vice on computer and cigar, its like investing in nothing I think. I really hope, that business will turn me more responsible to things that really matter. Applying its concept to my daily life would change my attitude and perception to life.

Truly, I really want to be rich, infact thats one of my goals in life, second to happiness. And I know, business is probably one of its pre-requisite to achieve my goals, this may start and ables to stable my life in the future. I want to travel different places on earth, and ecplore more to gain knowledge and ideas. To manage my own company, and lead various of employees and organization, I want to have a wealthy family, full of faith and pack with love. And so, business is more likely the key to it.

Technopreneur as stated above, will start in a pinch of IDEA, like a seed, to be planted and nourish properly. I, as a seed, is hunger of knowledge regarding business. Its so hard to start as a seed in a bunch of trees surround me. But ill make use of their trunks, and climb as I reach the top to see the SUNLIGHT of life. I will scatter rapidly and spread my vines throughout the world, with strength and courage to face my enemies.

Im far beyond of being a technopreneur, lack of vitamins and minerals in bussiness, and fully needs assistance for nourishment. Maybe I can consider myself as "newbie" in transactions like technopreneurship, but yet, I am always open in grabbing opportunities like this. Hunger in excitement and wonder of how business will take my exploration here in earth. My greatest achievement would be "happiness in Life" and I assure that this one mostly will lead me that way. Beginner like me will surely face difficulties in handling business, yet its serve as a challenge for my part, for I am the type of person who loves challenges and games.

Lastly, I can't be the ideal businessman in the world of trading, but I will try my best and bet my 20% of my life span, to contribute at my best on improving the technopreneurship here in Philippines.

"A seed will surely grow and soon to bear fruits, as it is packed with proper assistance..."

====================================================================================================

3. Would you take the same career path that Steve Jobs took? Why or why not?

Diffinitely Yes! For the act of steve is nearly perfect of what should an ambitious being filled with goals and perception in life should have to.

Stating the lunch of steve works:

While the 26-year-old Wozniak was content with his computer hobbyist group, the 21-year-old Jobs had a greater vision for the future. After seeing a computer that Wozniak had designed for himself, Jobs began to think about the marketability of such products. He convinced Wozniak to leave his job at Hewlett Packard and together the two began working on constructing a personal computer. Jobs’ passion and Wozniak’s engineering talent would soon combine to become a revolutionizing force in the computer industry.

Working out of Jobs’ bedroom, the duo designed the Apple I, and later moved to Jobs’ garage to build the prototype. In order to raise the money they needed to finance their company, Jobs sold his Volkswagen van while Wozniak sold his programmable calculator. With $1,300 in capital, the pair created Apple Company and within weeks, they were taking orders.

Jobs had secured the company’s first sale of 50 Apple I computers for a price of $666 each. The success of Apple I led the pair to design a successor, the Apple II. With a sleeker design, a disk drive, an open system and a new plastic casing that featured the Apple logo, the Apple II achieved even greater success. Within just three years, Apple Computer had experienced a growth of 700%. In December 1980, the company became a publicly traded corporation and Jobs’ stature continued to grow.

Competition from IBM soon began to threaten Apple’s position on top of the market. The release of Apple III did not come with the similar success that its predecessors had, nor did the release of Lisa. Apple II had numerous design flaws while Lisa was too expensive and thus was not commercially successful. In order to maintain its competitive edge, Jobs decided to convince then-President and CEO of Pepsi John Scully to become Apple’s CEO.

In 1984, Apple introduced the Macintosh, which became the first commercially successful computer with a graphic interface. Over 400,000 Macs were sold in its first year of production. But, while the company was experiencing success, an internal power struggle was also taking place. In 1985, Wozniak left the company and Jobs was stripped of his duties by the board of directors. Jobs resigned in protest, but that would not be the end of him.

Jobs went on to found NeXT Computer, a company that focused on educational computing. While its workstation was technologically advanced, it proved to be too expensive to gain widespread appeal. But, NeXT did experience modest success in the scientific and academic fields, developing such products as the DSP chip and the built-in Ethernet port. In 1986, Jobs also purchased Lucasfilm’s computer graphics division for $10 million and created Pixar, a new computer animation company that has since partnered with Disney to create such hit films as Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

In 1996, NeXT was bought by Apple for $204 million and Jobs was brought back on as an interim CEO of the company he had originally founded. As CEO of Apple once again, Jobs cut a number of projects that he saw as being useless and began to turn his attention to the iMac. Since the iMac was introduced in 1998, Apple has seen its sales rise significantly. The company continued to branch out with such successful products as the iPod and iTunes. Apple currently has 14,800 employees and grosses over $17 billion in revenues.

In 2005, The Walt Disney Company purchased Pixar for $7.4 billion making Jobs Disney’s largest single shareholder with 7% of the company’s stock. While his aggressive personality and demanding management style have often been criticized, Jobs is undoubtedly a visionary, who turned his dreams for the personal computer into a billion dollar enterprise.

It is merely stated, that Steve start on its success, and so, for me, I should adopt some traits of Steve has, like the fashion to work, uniqeness and love to owns perception, but, only one thing pinch me off, that i should not have to copy from steve, that is to being boastful and self centered in life, because, success is equated by:

"idea - surroundings (people) - works - faith"
